The Reflection Cube is a mirrored art installation designed to create a moment of quiet reflection and honest expression. This freestanding cube invites you to pause, read an open-ended question about your relationship with clothing, and write your anonymous response on a provided card before placing it inside.

More than just an artwork, The Reflection Cube offers a safe, judgment-free space to explore how clothes shape who we are and how we feel. As an act of soft activism, it reminds us there is no right or wrong way to dress – only your way.

Each reflection becomes part of a growing conversation about fashion, identity, and self-expression – one honest moment at a time.

  • A physical, offline project that takes residency in various spaces, inviting community participation in real-world locations. Participants are encouraged to handwrite instinctual responses to a thought-provoking question about clothing. These anonymous contributions are collected and shared as part of a wider conversation around style, identity, and the often complex feelings that our clothes evoke.

    2. Give yourself time to reflect before writing an instinctive response. 

    3. Flip over and repeat for the other side. 

    4. Place in the Reflection Cube. 

  • Every thought, feeling, and experience you share is deeply valued. Your perspective doesn’t just inform our work – it shapes it. Each story sparks new ideas, deeper conversations, and meaningful change. Together, we are reimagining fashion and building a more mindful, sustainable future.

  • Your response is collected and added to our growing conversation. Some are featured digitally encouraging our community to respond in their own way and spark further conversation, while others will inform future art projects and be made available for fashion research.

About

Founded by artist and Photographer Liz Sunshine in 2022, Our Relationship With Clothes (O.R.W.C.) is a soft activism project exploring the connection between people, clothing, identity, and consumption. Through publicly accessible art, storytelling, research, writing, and education, O.R.W.C. creates opportunities for reflection and dialogue about our relationship with clothes and the wider fashion system. The project raises awareness of textile waste and overconsumption while encouraging people to make informed choices that align with their values. O.R.W.C. believes lasting change begins with curiosity, critical thinking, and the collective impact of small actions.
