Kowtow

Melbourne

2025

In February and March 2025, the Reflection Cube found a temporary home at Kowtow in Fitzroy, Melbourne. For a month, visitors were invited to answer four values aligned questions such as ‘Do you dry your clothes outside?” and “Do you know what your clothes are made from without looking?” It was a gentle invitation to reflect on how well we know the things we wear every day.

The question "Do you know what your clothes are made from without looking?" encourages us to rethink our clothing choices and become more aware of the materials we wear. It can spark a shift toward sustainable fashion by promoting transparency, ethical consumerism, and a demand for eco-friendly fabrics. By understanding what’s in our clothes, we can support brands that prioritize sustainability and fair practices, ultimately reducing fast fashion’s environmental and social impact and driving innovation in textile development. It’s a simple question with the power to create lasting change in the fashion industry.

The Our Relationship With Clothes (O.R.W.C.) project is a space for everyone. Whether you’re already on the path to understand your relationship with fashion, wanting to repair it or just beginning to explore how clothes make you feel. This community is here to meet you where you are, normalising asking questions, having conversations and listening from a place of love and respect.

We believe in progress, not perfection.
