Melbourne

2023

In 2023, the Reflection Cube travelled through markets, fashion weeks, and public spaces across Melbourne, inviting a broad cross-section of people to pause and reflect on their relationship with clothing. Questions pulled from our varied database of over 100 questions, were included toopened gentle yet powerful conversations about fashion, values, and waste.

As an example, the question "How do new clothes make you feel?" invites us to notice the emotions tied to buying and wearing something new. Does it spark excitement, confidence, guilt, or fleeting satisfaction? It asks us to look beyond the immediate rush of novelty and consider what we are truly seeking when we buy new clothes. Are we trying to express ourselves, fit in, reward ourselves, or fill a deeper gap? By understanding the feelings behind our purchases, we can begin to untangle our habits from marketing messages and social pressures, and move towards a relationship with clothing that is grounded, intentional, and authentic.

The Our Relationship With Clothes (O.R.W.C.) project is a space for everyone. Whether you’re already on the path to understand your relationship with fashion, wanting to repair it or just beginning to explore how clothes make you feel. This community is here to meet you where you are, normalising asking questions, having conversations and listening from a place of love and respect.

We believe in progress, not perfection.
