REFLECTION CUBE

This is a research based interactive experience which asks people to respond to questions about their relationship with clothes. Under the creative rationale that asking questions has been proven to influence subsequent behaviour. We want Australian’s to consume less and believe that creating a safe space for self reflection will help encourage people to understand their behaviour and values in reflection to their clothes.

The REFLECTION CUBE project encourages community engagement, inviting the public to reflect on their relationship with clothes by selecting & anonymously answering a question card, then placing it in a mirrored cube. Printed in Melbourne, the cards are made from non-coated stock to ensure a circular end of life. The cube has been made locally in polished stainless steel, designed to visually reflect the participant inserting the card & what they are wearing.

Collecting both qualitative and quantitative data provides research points that establish an insightful reference point related to the context of the Australian public’s relationship with clothes. A study of this sample size and context has applicability against textile consumption and waste statistics within Australia.

Aim: To collect 10,000 physical responses to 100 questions in 2024. Complimented by online responses that allow people to participate as many times as they choose.

Next pop up location: Currently seeking events, retail spaces or organisations who would like to host our cube. Day to day opportunities to participate will be posted on @lizsunshine’s IG stories.
